How it works

One source for every number: our script, installed by the maker on the project's own site.

What we measure

  • Visitors per day — distinct visitors our script saw on the project's site during one UTC day. A visitor who returns the next day counts again.
  • Visitors per week — the seven daily values of a Monday–Sunday week added together. This is the ranking metric.
  • Where visitors come from — each visit gets one source from its first page: Google, X, Reddit, Hacker News, AI assistants, Product Hunt, email, paid, other sites, or direct.
  • No cookies, no fingerprinting, no self-reported numbers. Known bots are dropped; blocked scripts are simply not counted.

How the ranking works

  • Top — projects ordered by visitors per week. A project needs to be verified, approved, and measured on at least 4 of the 7 days.
  • Rising — ordered by growth against the previous week. Needs two fully measured weeks and at least 200 visitors in the previous one, so tiny baselines cannot win.
  • Live this week — the open week updates as data arrives and is not final.
  • Sealed on Monday — after a quick review, the week is published with a seal (a hash of its entries) and is never recomputed. A withdrawn entry keeps its rank and is marked as withdrawn.

Verification

  • Installing the snippet is also how you prove you control the site. Every day we fetch the homepage (plus up to five pages from the sitemap) and look for the script tag.
  • Can't edit the HTML? Add the DNS TXT record from your dashboard instead. The script is still needed for anything to be measured.
  • A day without the script, an unreachable site, or a missing check is "not measured" — never counted as zero.
  • Seven days in a row without the script and the project is marked lost; reinstalling resumes measurement with the gap visible.
  • An admin approves each listing (free). Approved projects get a followed link; approval expires after 180 days and is renewed on review.

The badge

  • The link in your snippet becomes a small badge showing this week's visitors so far — the same number as on your project page.
  • It never shows upvotes, estimates or stale figures: while nothing is measured it says "measuring paused".
  • Three sizes, light and dark variants. See the badge →

What we can't see

  • Pages without the script, visitors who block scripts, and anything before the install.
  • Who the visitor is: no cross-device identity, no demographics.
  • Which post or query sent them — only the site it came from.
  • Revenue, sign-ups or retention. A visitor arrived; that is all a number here says.
